Description ~ Lady’s Sleeveless Surcoat

Period ~ 14th Century

A Ladies Surcoat (Gown) in lilac crepe with metallic braid. A lovely flowing item that originally came from a sale at the Royal Opera House. It is quite old so may show signs of wear, but there is plenty of use left in it. (The White Shift shown underneath in the photo is not included).

Costume ~ MG121

Type ~ Theatrical

Description ~ Lady’s Olive Green Taffeta Gown

Period ~ Made for Jessica in The Merchant of Venice, but could be used for other periods, as it is a fairly generic shape (theatrically)

The gown is trimmed with a grosgrain lattice-woven braid to accentuate the shaping. The Lace at the neck and cuffs is a cotton one - which adds a lovely old feel to the garment.

Photos - The front view was taken without flash - the back view was taken with flash, and highlights the satiny texture of the gown.
